I think it’s similar to in that sense.ĭo you feel extreme music is currently on an upswing given the global crisis?
In a sense, it’s almost the same thing as when something comes or goes and you have to learn how to adapt and live differently because something showed up or left. People want that so bad and that’s not the way this works, it’s a pandemic, there’s going to be new things and people are going to have to learn how to live in a different way after this. Maybe not this extreme level of social distancing, but I feel like people have this insane belief that the world is just going to be like “okay yeah so next Monday everything is fine, it’s all good we’ll go back to normal.” It’s going to take a minute and I’m sure there’s going to be certain things that are put into place. We’re all just sitting at home being like “f-, I want to go back to normal so bad,” and everybody is like “I can’t wait for shows again and I can’t wait to get everything back to normal,” and I’m not saying that nothing is going to go back to normal, but given what’s happened we have a different normal now. How’d you develop these lyrics originally?Īs an avid touring musician, what has it been like for you personally dealing with quarantine, and just not knowing when concerts will return? This sounds oddly relatable to what many people might be going through during quarantine. You’ve said “Covet Not” is about being infatuated with familiarity, recognizing suffering, and when you’re running in circles. Regarding the upcoming LP, vocalist Brendan Murphy shares some thoughts on the album and how he and the band are operating during these pandemic. And discounting the hype alone, the production quality and sheer brutal songcraft has END on the cusp of being 2020’s hardcore powerhouse. Sure, it’s no match for pop-star or even top-tier rock sales numbers, but from an underground perspective, it’s an indicator that a band has attainted some form of oneness. The reception from their latest tracks is drawing over hordes of new fans, particularly with the slamming singles “Pariah” and “Covet Not.” Longtime fans and newcomers are already displaying a kinship with this record, and many of the limited vinyl presses are selling out completely.
